My first dog was a Dalmatian and nobody told me they couldn't be
trained, so Puppy, (we never did manage to find a name for him)
was trained to search, do man work, and was regularly placed in
Beginners and Novice. I was lucky that my Uncle, Wilf
Chadwick, was a very good trainer, and I learned a lot from him.
Having always loved GSD's, I had two, when I met my Husband
Matt, who was chief instructor at the NATO Explosives Ordinance
Disposal School.
We started our own company, M.P.W.D. Ltd, and trained the first
dog to ever reliably detect Semtex, a GSD bitch Schon, who was
tested by Royal Armaments Research and Development
Establishment. Due to her capabilities, Semtex was re-issued to
the Police and Army.
Although we did a small amount of Security work, the bulk of our
dog work was Explosives Search, and Film and TV work.
Our first Border collie came from Sue Ader, and was Passim Sea
Breeze (We lived by the sea at the time) a Blue Merle Dual
Registered bitch, who was to be our Foundation Bitch. She was an
amazing working dog, versatile enough to excel in everything we
taught her, and we taught her a lot.
Thanks to Breeze, we have bred some beautiful dogs, with her
lovely temperament, and willingness to work. She produced
Arnpriors Trader, and Arnpriors Cold Light, and was Grand Mother
to Arnpriors Spectre, all of which were stars in their own
right, either as Search Dogs, Show Dogs, or Film Dogs.
Without Breeze, there would not be any Arnpriors Border Collies.
We will always be in her debt, along with Sue Ader, who bred
her, and let me have her.
